A Contest for comic strip artists/authors

Hi all, Lance here, creator of the Funky Aliens. I just found out about a contest running in the San Diego Union Tribune which I plan to enter my Funky Aliens for a chance to win. If chosen, I'll get a chance to write a comic strip for the Sunday comics for up to one year, giving me a chance to get some exposure for my creation.

I'm really excited about this opportunity and I hope to get something in before the deadline. Have to submit 4 samples of original family-friendly characters, before the September 30th deadline.

Here's a wallpaper design for March 2009, with a mini calendar in the bush.

Here's the process... First start with a sketch and scan it in...

Then work on it in Illustrator, giving it all the color...

Then give it a cast shadow...

And finish it off with the shading on the character. See final pic above.
